Car Audio Problem

I have two 12 inch pioneer subs and a SOUND STORM F2800 AMPLIFIER. They've been working fine since I bought them, close to 3 years ago.

A few weeks ago the subs would just die out and quit working for no reason, then they would turn back on randomly. Somebody suggested I needed a new fuse holder because the old one was worn out and if things got loose it would shut off and on. Put one in, and it didn't fix the problem.

As soon as I turn the car on, the subs work great, nothing wrong at all. If I let the car just sit there and not drive, they will continue to work. As soon as I start driving the car; the subs die out. I'm driving a 1998 Buick Century (probably original battery), and my friend suggested that I probably need a new battery as it can't handle all the power it needs to put out

it's your alternator. need a higher wattage one. you need upgrade to about 170w or more, i think stock units give out 65w-90w.

battery is only to give your car juice to start up, the alternator distributes the power to the car, keeps it running, and recharges the battery.

a couple of issues could be here. Before dropping the money on a new alternator check out to see if any wires are loose. The one that would be most likely is the ground wire. If its loose your amp will shut off. Im only thinking the motion from driving could set off your wires. Next check your fuses in the amp, one could be melting. Check as well to see if the amp is running hot, if none of this is the issue then i would get your alternator "wrapped". This is will plenty of power to be distributed to everything and hopefully solve your problem.
